Interpreting
It might seem obvious, but interpreting and translating are not the same thing.
As a matter of fact, interpreting is exclusively concerned with the transmission of oral messages. Consequently, the techniques and equipment employed are inevitably different from those used in the translation of written texts. In addition, the context in which the interpreter works plays an essential role, which is why different types and modes of interpreting may be suitable depending on the kind of event, the setting and the equipment available.
Interpreting is a complex activity and each assignment requires thorough preparation. Thus, in order to guarantee a high-quality service, I invite my Clients to forward as much material and information about the event as possible, such as full programme, notes and PowerPoint presentations (if available). All documents are kept confidential and are used to search for domain-specific terminology as well as for further information.
